Hewlett Fire Department Provides Dual Response to Valley Stream for Attic Fire

Hewlett, NY - On February 9 at 23: 44 hours, the Hewlett Fire Department was alerted for a dual-response engine to assist the Valley Stream Fire Department with a report of smoke in a private dwelling on Union Street.
Engine 304 responded and arrived on scene, securing a hydrant at the corner of South Terrace Avenue and West Valley Stream Boulevard. Upon investigation, firefighters discovered a small fire in the attic of the residence, which was quickly extinguished using a water can.
The crew of Engine 304 also assisted in stretching a dry hose line to the front door of the home, though the line was not placed into operation.
After assisting at the scene, Engine 304 returned to service within approximately one hour.
