At approximately 2331 hours on March 3, 2026, the Camden County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Westmont Fire Company and neighboring departments from Collingswood and Haddonfield to 201 Virginia Avenue for the report of a dwelling fire. Westmont Fire Chief, Dan Devitt arrived and reported a working fire in a three story, wood frame, single family dwelling. The working fire signal was transmitted which brought in additional resources from the Pennsauken FD. Collingswood Squad Company 16 arrived as the first due engine and stretched a 1 3/4" handline to the front door. As the firefighters prepared to make the push through the front door, fire vented from the Alpha and Bravo sides. Westmont and Haddonfield ladder companies placed ground ladders to assist with ventilation and for egress. Additional handlines were stretched to reinforce the initial attack line. The fire was placed under control in about 20 minutes.
