Jackson Fire Department on February 8 responded to a report of a cat trapped under a home. Car-1 arrived and entered the crawlspace, where crews discovered that the cat, later named Sideband, had fallen into an ancient well about 15 feet deep.
A ladder was not an option due to the cramped conditions. Firefighters swiftly set up a rope rescue device to securely remove the cat. Sideband was transported to a nearby veterinary clinic and treated for dehydration. Captain Jeremy Williams and Firefighter/EMT Lucas Vandever were commended for their quick thinking and collaborative efforts. The incident demonstrates the department's devotion to technical rescue skills and community service.
