On February 8th at approximately 23:35 Middle Hope Fire Department and a few others were dispatched to the Parr Valley Condominiums, for a report of smoke in the structure. While responding, OC911 advised Car 2 that they were taking multiple calls of a fire with possible people trapped. Car 2 advised to have the 2nd alarm dispatched to bring in additional mutual aid. On arrival, Car 2 encountered heavy fire on the 1st and 2nd floors of A/B side of the structure. Upon further investigation, there were no persons trapped, unfortunately a few pets were. Multiple hose lines and deck gun from E338 were used and appeared to knock down a great amount of the fire. However, there was no fire protection within the construction and a lot of void spaces. This caused the fire to travel to spaces that were not easily accessible. Command requested a 3rd alarm dispatch to bring in additional manpower. Firefighters endured -10 degree temperatures with winds making it even colder and extreme ice conditions.
One civilian was transported by EMS for evaluation. A few firefighters did fall on the ice but no injuries were reported.
We thank all of our members and mutual aid companies who were either on scene or stood by in our quarters and help put us back in service. The conditions were not optimal but the job was completed without injury.
