Firefighters battle massive 11 alarm fire Passaic
Photo by Todd HollrittPassaic - The 11-alarm fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. Friday night January 14, 2022 at the Majestic Industries warehouse on Passaic Street, firefighters from three counties were working through the night in freezing temperatures to try and extinguish the blaze, fire crews were still working to douse the flames as of 7 a.m Saturday. The fire was not completely under control, but was contained. The 300-foot by 400-foot building was vacant but being used to store plastics, pallets and some chlorine. The overwhelming scent of smoke and chemicals could be detected and was enough to make people's eyes water as far away as Wallington. its smoke so heavy that it was detected on weather radar and seen and smelled in neighboring New York City.
