Jersey City 2nd Battalion Chief Pete Griese Retires

Photo by RON JEFFERSAfter serving the city of Jersey City for 42-years, 2nd Battalion Chief Pete Griese retired on May 28th. Chief Griese is well-known in the fire service around the country, participating in many life-saving projects. At the quarters of Engine 19 and Ladder 8, the apparatus floor was filled with well wishers. That included active and retired firefighters, family, and friends. In addition, there were firefighters representing Worcester, Ma., FDNY and Arizona. Numerous congratulations calls were received from as far as Los Angeles. A large group of volunteer firefighters were also present from the Long Valley Fire Company, where Griese has served as chief, in the past.
