The East Greenwich Fire Department has extended the deadline for applying for firefighter/EMT positions until April 17th.

According to officials, the department is looking for two lateral transfer candidates to fill positions left by recent retirements. Experienced firefighters who fulfill the prerequisites—such as EMT-Cardiac certification and previous full-time fire department experience—are eligible for the positions.

Hourly salary, benefits, pension participation, and other incentives linked to longevity and training are all part of the department's competitive compensation package.

Leaders stated that maintaining staffing levels and ensuring the community continues to receive fire and emergency medical services are the goals of the hiring process.

As part of the current hiring cycle, applications are being accepted through the extended deadline.
