Live Fire Training Strengthens Skills and Regional Coordination in Merrimack
Merrimack, NH - Merrimack Fire Rescue, joined by mutual aid partners from Bedford, Amherst, Milford, and Litchfield, took part in a comprehensive day of hands-on training that featured a live fire exercise.
Throughout the day, crews rotated through multiple training evolutions designed to enhance both individual skills and interagency coordination. Ground ladder operations were led by Dan MacAuley of Alarm of Fire, LLC, while aerial and truck company operations were instructed by Chief Guarnera, Assistant Chief O’Brien, and Firefighter Josh Coulombe.
Participants also trained in alternative water supply techniques, including drafting, portable tanks, and rural hitch operations, under the guidance of retired Merrimack firefighter Wayne Perkins of W.D. Perkins.
The training concluded with an exposure protection drill, during which an acquired structure donated by Getinge was burned as part of the exercise.
