Plainville Fire Department moved in to their new firehouse a few months ago. They are located to the rear of a combined Public Safety and Town Hall complex built on the site of the old Wood School. The cost for the new buildings, which included demolition of the derelict school building, was 34 million dollars.
The Fire portion has five bays with apparatus running from both sides. It features living quarters for career personnel, ample space for the call force and a state of the art dispatch center. This is a huge improvement over the cramped and outdated fire house they previously occupied.
