Waltham fire conducted a training exercise on May 3 at a construction site at 220 Wyman Street. Engine 7and Medic 1 were dispatched for a construction worker having a medical issue on top of a parking garage. Lt Mike Murphy determined getting the patient down would be difficult and requested a full assignment which brought Engine 2, Rescue 1 and Tower 1. Rescue 1’s crew brought up appropriate equipment and Tower 1 sent up a stokes basket. The Tower than lowered the stokes where firefighters brought him to the Medic unit. Approximately 60 construction workers at this site were required to observe this operation. And when the firefighters brought the worker to the Medic unit, they all clapped.
