THIS AMBULANCE IS LOCATED IN COSHOCTON, OH. For Sale, 1999 Ford F-350, Type I ambulance. Ambulance built by Excellance. Vehicle mileage is 75,743 and is accurate. Truck has a Salvage Title. This vehicle has a lengthy and unlucky history. The ambulance portion was built in the 1980’s and was originally purchased by an ambulance company in Alabama. They traded it in on a new unit and the ambulance portion was re-chassised and sold to an Alabama Fire Department. They were involved in an accident and had the “box” re-chassised onto the third chassis, the 1999 Ford F-350 that it is currently attached to. Then they had a second accident in 2005, which resulted in the “salvage title”. The current chassis was repaired and the truck was put into service by a third Alabama department until we purchased it in 2011. We had it thoroughly inspected in 2011 to ensure road worthiness, and it was found to be in good condition. All 3 re-chassis were completed by Excellance and each time the truck left the factory with the full warranty of a new ambulance unit.

We have serviced it every 3000 miles for the 44,000 miles we have owned and driven it, but this Spring began noticing a vibration while driving. An inspection of the front suspension and frame has revealed damage to the steering assist cylinder and the frame is bent and cracked. The best guess is one of the monster potholes we experienced this Spring damaged the front-end. There is no visible damage to the unit, it is all underneath. Pictures are shown of the frame damage (Contact us for further info). Because of this damage, we would advise against it being used as an ambulance until it could be repaired and certified as safe. We did drive this vehicle 40 miles to the repair facility to have it inspected and 40 miles back to our garage without incident. It starts, runs well, the air conditioning is cold, and there are no issues that we are aware of other than the frame damage and a slight vibration while driving.

We were advised that the ambulance portion could be installed on a new chassis, but we decided against it because of the size of the box. It is a small box by today’s standard, only 139 inches long and 91 inches wide on the outside, with an interior height of only 63 inches, but this would be a viable option for the purchaser.
