This was an on-duty spare apparatus serving as a replacement unit for a apparatus out of service in shop. Unit suffered an electrical short that caused a fire in the engine compartment. The fire burned the electrical harness in the engine compartment and the oily weepage on the exterior of the engine. The City made the decision not to attempt to re-wire or replace the wiring in the engine compartment. Prior to the fire the truck was in daily service as a spare. This truck has a DETROIT 6V-92TA DDEC II 400 gross horsepower Diesel engine. As the truck will not crank, the successful bidder will need a wrecker or roll back or self loading transport to remove the truck from City property.
