SPENCERPORT, NY - On Saturday August 7th,2004 the Spencerport "Red Onions" Drill Team hosted their annual FD Racing tournament. The day was filled with some great racing, including a Western, NY record breaking run in the "B" Ladder event. The old record of 4.96 was held by the Spencerport “Red Onions”, and was broken by them with a new WNY record time for "B" Ladder of 4.94.After the record breaking "B" Ladder run, the racing for the day became more hyped up, with the Point Pleasant “Pea Pickers" almost breaking another WNY record in the Motor Pump event with a time of 6.04.The current WNY record for the Motor Pump is 6.00,and it is held by the "Pea Pickers". The Elsmere "Wanderers" from the Albany, NY area made the trip up to Spencerport to participate in the days events, and wound up with 7 points total for the day.
The Spencerport "Red Onions" wound up winning the tournament with a total of 34 points overall for the day. Coming in 2nd was the Point Pleasant "Pea Pickers" with a total of 22 points, with 3rd place overall for the day going to the Main Transit "Slo Pokes" with a total of 19 points.
The North Greece "Lil Squirts" and the Henrietta "Ol Henries" wound up in a tie for 4th place overall with 16 points both, followed by the Elsmere "Wanderers" with 7 points, Union Hose "Bulldogs" of Dansville ,NY with 4 points, and the Barnard "Rascals" with 2 points.
Immediately following the race a dinner and awards ceremony was held at the Spencerport firemen's exempt club, where the days trophies were handed out, and also several memorial trophies were awarded.
