Members and associates of Howard Wheat Engine Company #4 assist with a benefit sausage and pepper takeout hosted to assist fellow company firefighter and past assistant chief of the Port Jervis Fire Department with family medical expenses.

PORT JERVIS, NY - Port Jervis Fire Department’s Howard Wheat Engine Company #4 recently presented a check for $3,000.00 to fellow company member Harold Howlett, his wife Sheila, and their family. Harold is a 31-year member of the company and a past assistant chief of the department.

The funds were raised this past spring through a sausage and pepper sandwich takeout held as a means of assisting Howlett and his family as Sheila undergoes medical treatments in her battle against cancer.

President Henry Dunn said the fundraiser was well-attended and deemed it a great success.

“We would like to extend our thanks for the generosity of our community,” said Dunn. “It means a lot.”
