DOUGLAS, MA - Shortly after 6:00 PM on Saturday night March 12th, the Douglas Fire Department received calls for a house fire at 3-5 Webster Road on the west side of town. Upon arrival, firefighters found an unoccupied barn type structure heavily involved in fire. The fire had broken out of the windows and was roaring skyward.
Douglas firefighters immediately went to work trying to gain control of the flames while a call was placed to the Webster Rescue Squad to request additional manpower to assist at the scene of the fire. The fire threatened another structure that was located approximately eight feet from the barn, but firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from igniting that building.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Crews remained on scene for the next several hours checking for hidden embers and assuring the fire would not rekindle. No damage estimate was available and no injuries were reported.
