DELANO TOWNSHIP, PA - On January 16, 2010 the Ryan Township Fire Department, Rush Township Fire Department (two stations – Quakake and Hometown), Delano Township Fire Company, McAdoo Fire Company and Ryan Township ambulances were dispatched to 92 Lakeside Drive in Delano Township for a garage fire.
The Delano Township Fire Chief 6 arrived in minutes and found smoke coming from a one story garage.
Chief 6 requested that all tankers and manpower respond to the scene to assist with the fire. Delano Township Engine 6-10 arrived and attacked the fire with a cross lay. Quakake Tanker 25-35 arrived and supplied Engine 6-10 with tank water. Ryan Township Engine 26-10 and Tanker 26-30 responded to the scene and staged on Lakeside Drive.
The firefighters found fire in the walls and ceiling caused by a wood burner. The fire was extinguished with the one hose line. The garage door was opened and smoke was vented from the building. Firefighters worked on removing the burnt portion of the roof.
The fire was under control in less than twenty minutes and all hot spots were out. Chief 6 had McAdoo and Hometown units stood by a few blocks away from the scene. The stand by units were later released and returned back to quarters.
The fire chief reported that there were no injuries to firefighters and the garage received moderate damage.
Ryan Township Ambulance stood by on scene and Hometown Fire Police provided traffic control.
