Queens, NY - On May 4th, 2007 at 14:57 hrs, the Box was transmitted for a large area brush fire at 165 Ave and 92nd Street in the Howard Beach section of Queens, NYC. FDNY turned out for a 3rd alarm assignment.
The West Hamilton Beach Fire Department responded with thier BFU to the scene within their immediate response area. They entered the brush followed by BFU -7 of the FDNY from the quarters of E266 in the Rockaways. The fire lasted until approximately 17:00 hrs and burning approximately 10 acres of the Gateway National Park. No homes were endangered by the blaze. The Gateway National Park is located within Jamaica Bay.
