Pequannock, New Jersey – “Mad Mike” (Michael Martin) from the MTV Show “Pimp My Ride” stopped by the Pequannock Township High School (PTHS) on Saturday July 28, 2007, to kick off a project to rejuvenate and restore the PTHS Band Bus. This bus is utilized to transport the various instruments that the band plays as it performs throughout the state.
Recently, after being contacted by band parent Tom Lyons (who is also a Deputy Fire Chief for the City Of Clifton Fire Department) and seeing photos of the current bus, Mad Mike said he would be very happy to be part of this special and charitable event, especially for the students. Mad Mike who had studied classical piano in his youth, stated:” one thing for sure, you need your musical equipment to your shows on time, safe, and rollin’ big”. He also went on to say, “These students don’t need an unsafe, doggie looking bus”.
Also during his stay in New Jersey, Mad Mike made visits to Fire Company One of Pequannock Township, and Fire Station 6 in the City of Clifton. Mad Mike inspected and was impressed by the various tools and equipment of both departments. Mike stated he “is looking forward to revisiting both departments in the near future”, when he returns to help out with the bus project.
