COLUMBIA COUNTY, NY - On Thurs. Oct. 27, Columbia County 911 at 15:14 received a report of a serious accident on Route 9H in Ghent. The two car head-on accident was located just north of Loveapple Farm.
One driver, Timothy J. Weatherwax, 64, of Saratoga Springs was killed. He was operating a 2006 Cadillac and crossed over the center line as he was heading southbound on Route 9H. The second vehicle operated by Sam Tassinari, 31, of Spencertown was northbound. Tassinari was injured and was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. The Columbia County Sheriff's Department investigated.
The West Ghent Fire Department, Valatie and Greeport rescue squads responded to the scene.
