CLAVERACK, NY - Claverack firefighters with the assistance of Churchtown firefighters made "short" work of an electrical fire on Jan. 18
.
The fire was located at 156 State Route 23 in the town of Claverack. Upon arrival, Claverack Car 2 Michael Cozzolino, reported heavy smoke from the structure. Firefighters entered the residence to find a fire over a fireplace mantel.
The fire was reported to have started in an electrical outlet where a dried flower arrangement was displayed. The arrangement caught fire and dropped onto the mantel, which also caught fire. There was also damage to the wall.
Mellenville firefighters stood by in their own quarters for Claverack. Greenport Rescue staged at the scene. Units were on scene for just over an hour.
