As the temperatures rose into the high 90's at 19:49 hours Box 29-6 was dispatched to 25 South Fourth Street for a reported structure fire. The initial alarm brought Company 29 (Halifax) and Engine 216 (Fisherville). QRS 6 (Medic 6) arrived on the scene and advised Dauphin County Communications of a light haze coming from the structure. Engine 29-1 arrived on the scene and took up position on Side C and a handline was stretched into the rear of the structure.
As the crew from Engine 29-1 made entry to the 1st floor they encountered a light smoke condition. As they made entry onto the second floor they encountered heavy smoke and had two rooms well off. Interior reported this to Command 29 who in turn requested the full 1st Alarm. This brought the remainder of Company 216 (Fisherville), as well as units from Companies 20 (Millersburg), 38 (Dauphin), 35 (Linglestown), and Perry 2 (Duncannon) as well as an ambulance from Company 13 (Halifax EMS).
Tanker 29 arrived and staged behind Engine 29-1 and supplied them with water. Engine 29 did a reverse lay of 5 inch supply hose from Tanker 29 down to the hydrant in front of Jelly Bean Junction and supplied Tanker 29. Engine 216, Squad 216, Rescue 38 and Perry Engine 2 staged in the parking lot of Jelly Bean Junction and sent their manpower to the rear of the structure while Rescue 38 took up the RIT assignment.
Truck 20 set up on South Fourth Street on the A side of the structure and went to work laddering all sides of the structure. Tankers 216 and 20 staged beside Engine 29 and Engine 20 staged behind Truck 20 and sent their manpower to the scene. Air 35 set up at the corner of South Fourth Street and Market Street and went to work filling air cylinders. As crews came out of the structure they were rotated into rehab and fresh crews were sent back into the structure. After the fire marshal completed his investigation overhaul was completed. Units were out for 3 hours
