Shortly after Assistant Chief 40-04 (Caldwell) arrived on scene he advised a working fire in an approximately 50’ x 150” commercial structure. Command requested 40-31 to pull hand lines off and begin defensive fire attack. Assistant Chief 40-04 then requested 40-21 to lay 600 feet 5" from the bottom of the hill to 40-31. In a short time crews had several 1 3/4" hand lines several 2 1/2" hand lines and a few 3" master streams deployed on the structure. Ladder 80-51 set up on the A-D corner and begin flowing water.
Rural water supply was needed because the fire was in a non hydrant part of the township. Nine tankers were used to transport over 50,000 gallons of water to the scene from three miles away. Chief 60-01 was assigned as water supply command.
Crews worked the scene for five hours before the fire could be knocked down and overhaul complete. After overhaul was completed, there were no signs of hot spots. Asst Chief 40-04 placed all units back in service. The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals Office is investigating the fire.
