CAMDEN, NJ - On Sunday July 8, at approximately 15:30 hours, the City Of Philadelphia, Camden and Gloucester County 911 centers began receiving calls reporting a boat fire on the Delaware River with people reportedly overboard.
Rescue workers found 24 foot fiberglass-hulled pleasure craft located in the river channel between the Big Timber Creek and the Sunoco Eagle Point Refinery and numerous Marine Fire Units were dispatched.
Fireboat 7 arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, while the occupants of the boat were transported by private vessels to the West Deptford Boat Ramp to waiting BLS and ALS units. Two patients were transported to Crozer Chester Burn Center, one of which with serious burns. New Jersey State Marine Police and United States Coast Guard are investigating the incident.
