At 8:50pm on January 16, the Liberty Corner Fire Company was dispatched to an MVA with injuries on Liberty Corner Road in Bernards Township, near the Pingry School. Upon the arrival of Second Assistant Chief Dave Carroll(40-12), it was determined that there had been a head-on collision, with three injured, one significantly. Responding units were Rescue 1(40-151) and Engine 2(40-102).
Chief Marc Friedman(40-10) arrived and assumed command. Medevac was placed on standby. The Liberty Corner First Aid Squad arrived with two ambulances, and a third was requested from the Basking Ridge First Aid Squad.(Station 20).
One patient was removed from one car, and one from the second car, but the driver of the second car was significantly entrapped. The extrication was supervised by First Assistant Chief Pete Aprahamian. It was ultimately determined by ALS that the driver had expired, and Medevac was canceled.
The fire company remained on the scene until 11pm, to provide lighting for investigating authorities.
