BELLMAWR, NJ - Shortly before 7:30 pm on January 30th, Bellmawr's Task Force 33 (Camden County) was dispatched for a building fire. Camden County Communications Center was receiving multiple calls for a building fire off Creek Road, between Harding and Coolidge Avenues.
Bellmawr Chief Jim Burleigh, 3201, arrived with heavy fire from the C/D corner of a commercial building and heavy smoke throughout. The building was ANA Laboratories Incorporated that performed fluid analysis on oil, grease, fuel, and coolants.
Crews tried to make an interior attack but were forced out by heavy fire and mini explosions. At just about the 20 minute mark, Command ordered all companies out of the building and advised all companies to go into an exterior operations mode. Numerous master streams and two and a half inch lines were operating. Shortly after the second and third alarms were struck for additional resources and manpower.
The fire was placed under control shortly before 9:30 pm. Crews remained on scene well into the morning to hit the hot spots and assist with the investigation. Hardgrove Demolition was brought in to demolish the structurally unsafe building after the investigation was complete.
Numerous companies from Camden and Gloucester County's assisted at the scene including Bellmawr, Mount Ephraim, Barrington, Audubon, Lawnside, Runnemede, Westmont, Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township - Chews Landing, Westville, and Deptford. Camden County Canteen, Camden County Fire Police, Camden County Haz-Mat, Camden County ISAT, and several EMS units from Bellmawr, Mount Ephraim, and Deptford also assisted at the scene.
One minor injury from a worker who was working at the time the fire erupted was reported. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.
