Working together Waretown and Forked River extricate trapped driver

WARETOWN, NJ - On November 6, 2008 at 6:11 a.m. the Forked River Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, south of the Oyster Creek Power Plant on Route 9.

On arrival Chief Kevin Flynn found two vehicles involved, a NJNG Humvee and a Mazda sedan resting on its side with a female occupant trapped inside. The accident was over the border into Waretown. Chief Flynn immediately called County Communication to dispatch Waretown Fire Department to the scene.

Crews from Forked River’s Engines 6021, 6041 and 6001 began stabilization and extrication operations.

Waretown Chief Brian Jones arrived on location and assumed command. Waretown Engines 3601 and 3631 arrived on location to join Forked River crews in extricating the female driver out of the Mazda Sedan.

Lacey EMS, Waretown EMS and Medics worked on the drivers who were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
