Firefighters battle structure fire in Barnegat

BARNEGAT, NJ - On January 31, 2009, approximately 11:15 a.m. the Barnegat Fire Department responded to a working structure fire on Ridgeway Street. Arriving units were met with heavy fire and no available hydrants in the area. Forked River, Waretown and Bayville responded with tankers to provide a water supply.

Barnegat firefighters made an interior attack knocking down the fire. The family dog was rescued and is being treated and examined by local Veterinarians.

Also responding to the scene was an engine from Waretown, a FAST team from Forked River and a cascade unit from Lanoka Harbor. The fire is under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office.
