FORKED RIVER- The Forked River Fire Department was dispatched to the Garden State Parkway for a truck hauling a portable car crusher that collided with the Lacey Road overpass. Chief Kevin Flynn arrived to find the portable car crusher stuck under the bridge with diesel and hydraulic fluids leaking onto the highway. Engine 6021 stretched a 1 3/4 hose line with foam for protection while the Berkeley Hazardous Materials Team contained the leaking fluids. Southbound of the Garden State Parkway and the Lacey Road overpass were shutdown causing major traffic delays. Lacey EMS, Police, an Ocean County Fire Coordinator and many state agencies also responded.
