Firing crew waits for next hand line to be cut

Middletown, NJ- Section B10 of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, hosted a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) class on March 12, 2007 at the Navesink fire Co. in Middletown Twp.

This class introduces local fire companies to wildland firefighting and structural protection where homes are located in and around wooded areas. And also working with the state forest fire service on wildland fire incidents. Introduction was given in hand tools, cutting hand lines, drip torch and back-firing operations.

Participating fire companies included: Navesink FC, Brevent Park FC, Port Monmouth FC, East Keansburg FC, Community FC, River Plaza FC, Rumson FD and the Atlantic Highlands FD.

The NJ Forest Fire Service takes pride in working with local fire companies and provides wildland and ICS training free of charge.
