DERRY, NH - On December 12, 2009 at about 1:45 p.m., Derry Fire Alarm received a call for a chimney fire on lane 6 in Collett's Grove, a tightly packed residential area on south east corner of town, on the north side of Island Pond.
The first arriving company, Engine 2 Lt. Moorehead, reported to Car 1 that he had a working chimney fire. Car 1 had arriving Engine Company 4 assist the first engine and both companies make a quick knock down and checks for extension to the dwelling.
Car 1 found no extension and returned Truck 1. As the truck cleared, fire alarm reported a natural gas leak at the CVS on E. Broadway. Car 1 reported the chimney fire under control, releasing Engine 4. Engine 1, 3, truck 1, and car 1 took in the gas leak call.
First arriving Engine Co. 1 reported a gas leak to the rear of the building. Engine 3 took command on arrival, requested the gas company and evacuated the store. The gas was shut off by the first arriving companies and the call was under control.
As companies were clearing the scene, a reported motor vehicle accident with rollover was reported. Car 1, Engine 3, Medic 4 and Rescue 1 responded to the scene and find a town sidewalk snow blower machine on it's side and the driver out of the vehicle.
Companies assessed both drivers for injuries (none) and control the fluid spill with speedi-dry.
The vehicle was removed from the scene via a flat bed tow truck.
