DERRY, NH - Derry Fire Department responded to possible carbon monoxide problem on February 17, 2010 at 10:50 a.m.
Derry Fire Department Dispatch Center received a call from St. Thomas Aquinas School located at 26 Crystal Avenue reporting a possible carbon monoxide problem, with staff and students not feeling well. The Derry Fire Department dispatched Car 1, Medic 1, Engine 1 and Engine 4.
Companies evaluated the scene and checked for CO readings in multiple buildings and moved all patients to a safe zone. After triage reported multiple patients, a level 1 mass casualty incident was declared by Car 1.
A total of ten EMS transport units responded to the scene. Three area hospitals were notified and prepared to receive multiple patients.
At this time the incident is under investigation, the source has not been determined.
There were multiple transports to all three hospitals for evaluation.
