WINDHAM, NH - On January 24, 2010 Windham Fire Department responded to a call from a home owner reporting smoke in the residence and alarms sounding. Fire Alarm sent a full response consisting of engines 1, 2 and 3, Ladder 1, Tank 1 and car 1.
Lt. Dunn, on the first engine in, reported smoke showing requesting a working fire assignment bringing additional equipment from Derry, Salem and Pelham.
Companies made an aggressive interior attack, while reporting heavy fire in the attic area so a second alarm was struck bringing in a Hampstead tanker and an engine from Hudson along with a Londonderry medic and a Salem ladder.
Due to poor access in a long narrow driveway with large snow banks, companies were unable to bring in a ladder truck to work from so various companies worked from ground ladders.
All companies worked multiple hand lines to the second floor and attic area, while an additional line was stretched on the B side.
Windham FD should be proud of making a great stop in the large 80'x60' brick and wood new construction mansion with a large attachment from the D side containing multiple attached garages on the ground level and rooms above. They did a great job saving this structure.
