At 6:52 p.m. on February 29, 2012, the occupant of 3 Pingree Hill Road in Derry reported a fire in the structure. The Derry Fire Departmebnt responded with four engines, one tanker, one medic unit and the battalion chief. Derry Engine 3 arrived on scene at 6:56 p.m. and reported a 24 x 36 single story wood frame residential building with smoke showing, fire in the attic.
Crews were assigned fire attack, ventilation, search and water supply. Firefighters using SCBA, multiple hose lines and hand tools stopped forward progress of the fire in approximately 30 minutes. Fire Companies remained on scene for an additional hour overhauling and ensuring extinguishment.
Derry Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Auburn Fire Department. Derry's fire stations were covered by Londonderry, Manchester, Hudson and Salem Fire Departments.
The incident is under investigation by the fire prevention bureau and appears to be related to a wood stove and chimney. No injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters.
