LEBANON, ME - The Lebanon Rescue Department as well as Lebanon Fire Department and Maine State Police responded to two separate motor vehicle accidents with injuries on Wednesday morning, December 9, 2009.
The first accident occurred at 6:38 a.m. and was located on Carl Broggi Highway near the intersection of West Lebanon Road. A 2005 Nissan Frontier was traveling east bound when it lost control on the snow covered roads and left the roadway and struck several small trees. The driver, a 57-year-old female from South Lebanon, was wearing her seatbelt and the vehicles airbags did deploy. She was treated on scene for minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. Her vehicle was towed from the scene and had moderate front end damage. Lieutenant Ryan Therrien was the EMS Command officer for the first call.
The second accident occurred at 6:56 a.m. and was located on Gully Oven Road. A tractor trailer truck also lost control on the icy road and struck a tree after jack knifing. The operator, a 69-year-old male from Center Lebanon, received minor injuries but did not require transport to the hospital. A large wrecker from Hartford’s Towing was called in to help remove the truck. Emergency crews remained on scene until 9:20 a.m. when the vehicle was removed.
“Both were low speed accidents and resulted in minor injuries. The roads were very slippery. We called in additional volunteers to staff the station because cars were slipping off the road all around town.” Assistant Chief Jason Cole added.
Two first response/command vehicles from Lebanon Rescue and Lebanon Rescue 1 responded to these two accidents.
