Two minor injuries in Lebanon morning accident

LEBANON, ME - The Lebanon Rescue Department, Lebanon Fire Department and York County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident with injuries on Thursday, January 14, 2010. The accident was reported at 7:51 a.m. and was located on the Little River Road near the Abbott Road intersection.
It was reported to emergency personnel that a 2003 Ford Econoline van was traveling south on Little River Road when it slowed to make a left hand turn into a driveway. The 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling southbound the van did not see the van making a left turn into the driveway and went around the van and struck the side of the van as it went to make the turn. Both vehicles were traveling at a reduced speed at the time of the collision, but there was heavy damage to both and both had to be towed from the scene.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles at the time of the accident. Both operators were wearing their seatbelts.
The driver of the Sears 2003 Ford Van was a 67-year-old male from Sanford, Maine. He was treated on scene for minor injuries by Lebanon Rescue but did not require transport to the hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe was a 49-year-old female from East Lebanon, Maine. She was treated on scene for minor injuries by Lebanon Rescue but did not require transport to the hospital by ambulance.
Deputy Steven Thistlewood of the York County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
Both vehicles had heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Emergency crews cleared the scene around 9:05 a.m.
