WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - Just shortly before 9:00 p.m. on November 8, 2008, Washington County 9-1-1 began receiving calls reporting a single vehicle accident on I-70 at the 11 mile marker. Clear Spring Engine 42, Rescue Squad 4, Clear Spring Medic 49, Hancock Engine 53, Rescue Squad 59 and Medic 59 were dispatched.
Arriving units found a single vehicle in the median with extensive damage on the driver's inside. Crews made a rapid extrication due to the severity of the injuries and the patient was transported to Washington County Trauma Center as a Priority 1, Category 1 patient.
Witnesses reported that the late model sedan was heading east bound on I-70 when it left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to rest. It was reported that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time on the accident.
