NEWTON, MA - Newton firefighters battled a three alarm fire in frigid conditions about 9:30 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 91 Pickwick Road. The fire was discovered by the homeowners who had just returned home from dinner and called 911.
First due companies found heavy smoke showing from the second floor and began to stretch attack lines. The fire quickly engulfed a room over the garage and spread to the second floor and attic causing heavy damage. Ladder companies vented the roof and utilized a tower ladder for operations on the B side of the house.
The fire took over an hour to control and no injuries were reported. The cause is unknown but does not appear to be suspicious.
