Holden fire strikes two alarms

HOLDEN, MA - Around 7:45 p.m. on January 1, 2010 the Holden Fire Department was dispatched for a reported chimney fire.

First arriving units reported heavy smoke showing from the eaves. C2 called for the working fire.

Engine 3 pulled the first line to the first floor and encountered fire in the kitchen.

The crew from Tower 1 took a second line to floor 2 and starting pulling walls and ceilings. They found the fire had made it's way through the walls into the attic.

There was heavy fire damage to all floors including the attic. The fire was brought under control in about forty-five minutes.

Mutual aid companies from Worcester, W. Boylston, Rutland and Paxton responded to the scene. Sterling and Rutland covered headquarters while Boylston covered Chaffins station.
