FOXBOROUGH, MA - At just about 7:00 p.m. on New Years Eve, the Foxborough Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 235 Main Street.
First due companies arrived to find an occupied, two and a half story, wood frame with heavy smoke showing from the first floor. At this point all occupants were out of the building and companies began to make an interior attack.
When firefighters entered the building, they found large amounts of trash and clutter throughout the house making it difficult to locate and attack the fire. Along with poor conditions inside the house, companies had to deal with frozen hydrants and difficult access due to a long driveway.
A second alarm was struck shortly after arrival bringing in mutual aid from Sharon, Walpole, Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville. About a half hour into the fire, command ordered all companies out of the building due to the fire spreading to the second floor. Heavy fire began to vent from the front of the house as multiple big lines were set up.
Most of the heavy fire was knocked down by about 9:00 p.m. with overhaul lasting well into the new year. No injuries were reported but the house appears to be a total loss.
