The Ninth Annual Wildfire Academy was held this month on Long Island, over 555 personnel from 32 states including Canada. Over 400 students attended to 27 courses that the Academy offered resulting in the Red Card certification of wildland firefighters and the re-certification of firefighters.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation conducted the 2006 Academy along with Federal, State and County Agencies.
All courses were taught by certified wildland fire and incident command instructors and met all National Wildfire Coordination Group standards.
