2018 International Ice Rescue Train-the-Trainer Academy
  Portland, ME February 15, 2018 February 18, 2018
div>Lifesaving Resources ( lifesaving.com) will be conducting their 16th annual INTERNATIONAL ICE RESCUE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACADEMY, February 15 - 18, 2018 in Portland, Maine. Fire, Rescue, EMS, and Law Enforcement personnel from throughout the U.S. and Canada are expected to participate in this intensive and comprehensive 4-day training program.

According to Gerry Dworkin, "this is a unique opportunity for Public Safety and Rescue personnel to become trained as Ice Rescue Instructors who, upon successful completion of the Academy, will be authorized to conduct an internationally-standardized curriculum and to certify their own personnel who successfully complete the training." Graduates will be authorized to conduct Ice Rescue Awareness, Operations and Technician level courses. These curriculums meet/exceed NFPA 1670 and NFPA 1006 standards.

The 4-day Academy will include 30-contact hours of instruction, including 12 hours of classroom and 18 hours practical training, including a 3-hour NIGHT OPS session.

Instructor candidates must be in good physical condition, comfortable in deep water while wearing an approved Ice Rescue Suit, and must be able to effectively propel themselves through the water and tow a victim.
