Wood Incident Description: While at the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer that had run off the side of a highway due to icy conditions, the driver of a second vehicle, a pickup truck pulling a trailer, lost control and crashed into the scene. Several people were struck and injured, including Deputy Fire Chief Russell Achord, who was pinned under a vehicle. Fellow responders rushed to extract Chief Achord and provided medical aid measures while he was transported to the West Feliciana Hospital where he died from his injuries. Incident Location: Southbound US 61 north of LA 421
