Incident Description: While working at the scene of a high rise apartment building fire, Lieutenant McRae went into cardiac arrest and collapsed. According to media reports, McRae, in charge of the first due engine and crew, had just exited the structure after fighting the fire in a 9th floor apartment for 50 minutes. Lieutenant McRae was transported to the Washington Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead. Two others, including one firefighter, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident which remains under investigation by authorities.
