4 alarm fire in Newport RI with special calls

NEWPORT, RI - Newport firefighters battled a significant fire in a hotel in the evening on 5/23/22. Companies had a fire in a 2 story wing of the hotel that burned the second floor and roof. Companies made an aggressive interior attack but were drawn out for a moment due to deteriorating conditions. The fire extended into the main 4 story part of the hotel where truck companies stopped, further spread with trench cuts and multiple companies opening up inside. The fire grew to 4 alarms with numerous special calls for water tenders and tankers. Companies remained on scene into the day on Tuesday the 24th continuing to chase hot spots.
