Candle Possible Cause of Afternoon Fire in Fall River

FALL RIVER, MA - In the early afternoon of Thursday, May 2nd, Fall River Emergency Communications Dispatch Center began receiving multiple calls reporting flames showing from the second-floor at 159 Danforth Street. Car 2 arrived on scene and reported light smoke from the second-floor and ordered that the leader lines be pulled off of Engine 2, and for Engine 12 to secure a water supply from the corner hydrant. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire. It was learned that a tenant had attempted to fight the fire with a portable extinguisher.
